ALEXANDRIA BAY, N.Y. (WWNY) - Openly talking about the causes, symptoms and treatments, for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
River Hospital’s Community Wellness program will host a PTSD open house Thursday in honor of PTSD Awareness Day.
Therapists will be on hand to help answer questions and provide information.
Program Director Brad Frey says he hopes the event shows that the programs the hospital has to offer go beyond just helping the military.
“A lot of people think when they hear about PTSD, they immediately think about soliders or veterans who have been to combat. While that’s true, the truth of the matter is there are people that live and work right here in our own communities that sustain or witness traumatic events on a daily basis,” he said.
The event will be outside the MacSherry Building from 2 to 4 p.m.
