WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - E.J. Omelia has been among the top high school bowlers in the area. Now he's proving he's one of the top talents in national events.
Omelia participated in the National High School Bowling Championship in Indianapolis, Indiana.
He placed 4th out of 346 bowlers.
"It shows that the hard work does pay off," he said, "just hours on end with my dad and just other people, just putting in the time to really show that it did, on a big stage, that it really was worth it.
The 17 year old got into the sport when he was 11 to spend time with his dad and his friends.
He says the real test is a tournament that's coming up in Detroit, Michigan later this month.
Hoping for a professional career in the sport, Omelia says he plans to continue bowling thourgh college and see where things go from there.
