WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - The American Red Cross is facing a blood shortage and has an emergency need for blood.
The busy 4th of July week made it difficult for volunteers to organize blood drives and now there is a shortfall of more than 24,000 blood donations.
That has left the Red Cross with less than a three-day supply of most blood types available.
The Red Cross has an urgent call for donors and is asking the community to help.
There are a few blood drives Tuesday in the north country: one at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds; another at the Fraternal Order of Eagles 782 on Route 11, and two oTher blood drives in Canton - one at the fire station and another at Morley Wesleyan Church.
You can find all upcoming blood drives in the area on redcrossblood.org.
