WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - Friday kicked off the 4th annual Buskers in the Bay in Alexandria Bay, which runs through Sunday.
Crowds had the chance to enjoy shows by jugglers and fire eaters.
Loco Lucian is a former Cirque du Soleil performer.
This is his first time bringing his act to Busking at the Bay.
He feels street performing allows a wider variety of audience to see high quality shows.
“I decided a few years back to take my show from the Cirque stage to right here on the streets. And the reason why is because I feel not everyone can afford a big ticket price to Cirque du Soleil or even a theme park,” he said.
Alexandria Bay Chamber of Commerce Director Claire Dunlap says the event has had noticeable growth in its first four years.
She says buskers are now reaching out to her for a shot at performing.
The growth has been aided by the chamber of commerce’s social media accounts, along with fliers in neighboring communities.
Dunlap says there’s something new to see despite the consistent busking theme.
“It’s different every single time. And, you know, if you’ve been, even if you’ve been before, it’s gonna be different,” she said.
Along with magicians, jugglers, and fire eaters, there will also be balloon twisters, a face painter, and a craft fair all this weekend.
