CAPE VINCENT, N.Y. (WWNY) - Thousands of people are in Cape Vincent to celebrate French culture.
“It really started as a way to recognize our French history here and also bring people to the community," said French Festival co-chair Nicole Paratore.
The festival is packed with vendors, and features all sorts of music, food, and entertainment.
"I really like the puppet show that just happened,” said festival-goer Nora Maragno. “Also, my favorite part would probably be the parade because, you know, I get candy."
Many people come for the fresh, and French, bakery items, like authentic baguettes. By noon, vendors had sold out of nearly six thousand croissants.
“What I think is best about French Festival is seeing the smiles on people's faces, wandering around, and having a great day. That's what festivals are all about,” said Paratore.
Organizers say French Festival is the biggest annual event Cape Vincent hosts. It continues Sunday.
