WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - Thirty first cousins pooled together in honor of their grandfather's legacy.

The cousins donated a new sign and 10 concrete benches to the William J. Flynn Municipal Pool in honor of their grandfather, who the pool is named for.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony and dedication took place Monday evening.

Watertown city council members Ryan Henry-Wilkinson and Sarah Compo are Flynn's great-grandchildren and came out to show their support.

"I'm so proud of my family, my aunts and uncles and all my cousins," Henry-Wilkinson said. "I think that councilwoman Sarah Compo and I would both agree, you know, we wouldn't be where we are in life if they hadn't set the tone for us."

"The way that they come together and do things for the community in the memory of my great-grandfather, it's really special," Compo said.

The family says they are excited to see the community enjoy the pool and hope the improvements will be around for a long while.
