WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - It was a hopping good time at the Massena Arena Thursday.
But it’s not the frog that hops the farthest. It’s the one that goes the fastest.
Each competitor has their own way of speeding things up because everyone wants to get their name on the Boss Frog Champion plaque.
Some frogs go a little too far and too fast.
Winning seems to be a matter of where you caught your frog and then your technique in the arena.
“I found it at Coles Creek last night. We went frog hunting. Yes, in the dark. … We bring flashlights and that to find the frogs...Blow on its butt. I blow on its butt...Blow on the bootie. Uh huh,” said Jordan and Jason DuBray, Boss Frog contestants.
There’s something to all that.
Jason’s frog is this year’s Boss Frog Champion.
Jordan had the Boss Frog two years ago.
The event has been hopping strong for 49 years.
