WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - They're new interactive books that read out loud to children at the touch of a button.
They are called VOX books and Watertown’s Flower Memorial Library just purchased ten of them with help from New York state.
The printed books have an audio player inside that reads the book out loud and tells children when to turn the page.
Children’s librarian Ashley Pickett says that sometimes it’s hard for parents to find the time to read to their children.
“You know the story will read out loud for them and it takes away to some of that pressure to do the best you can or it even gives you a moment as a busy parent to maybe do something else while your child is still getting that interaction,” she said.
“That was fun. It was cows,” said Ethan Deem, who read a VOX book.
Anyone in good standing with the library can check out a VOX book for 4 weeks at a time.
