WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - The Watertown Rapids' playoff hopes on life support Sunday afternoon in Little Falls, where they met Mohawk Valley in a doubleheader.

A loss by the Rapids would virtually end any chance of sneaking into the post season with the regular season ending Wednesday night.

In game 1, at the bottom of the 2nd, Owen Wosleger singles to right center. Ryan Keenan scores, putting the Diamonddawgs up 1-0. Still in the 2nd, Jake Barbiere lofts a sacrfice fly to right center. Luke Turner tags at 3rd and makes his way around the throw home to increase the Mohawk Valley lead to 2-0.

Then Michael Rounds uncorks a wild pitch and Wosleger comes in from 3rd to up the Diamonddawgs lead to 3-0.

Still in the 2nd, Nick Cimillo gets all of the pitch and takes it over the wall in left center for a 2 run home run.Score: 5-0 Mohawk Valley. And Mohawk Valley takes game one 9-5.

Mohawk Valley also takes the second game, beating the Rapids 12-7.

Turning to the gridiron, 3 straight road games and 3 straight losses for the Watertown Red and Black.

Their latest setback coming Saturday night in Glens Falls where they fell to the Greenjackets 32-14 to drop their record to 0-3 in Empire Football League play.

The Red and Black close out their 4 game road swing to open the season next Saturday night against Mohawk Valley.
