Watertown Rapids

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - The Watertown Rapids' regular season closes out Wednesday and the local collegiate league baseball team is still holding out hopes for a playoff berth.

The Rapids need to win all their games and get some help for that to happen.

The Rapids are currently in fifth place in the Perfect Game Collegiate League's West Division, two games behind the fourth-place Elmira Pioneers...

The top four teams make the playoffs, so the Rapids are two games out with three games to play.

Both Watertown and Elmira had days off Monday. The Rapids are home to Utica Tuesday night before playing a doubleheader at Geneva to close out the regular season Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Pioneers host Oneonta Tuesday before closing out the regular season at home against Newark for two games on Wednesday.

Rapids general manager Brandon Noble says Tuesday's final home game is Fan Appreciation Night.

“The final home game of the season, we’ve given out New York State Fair tickets,” he said. “We’re going to have a bunch of merchandise and concessions discounted, so it will turn an affordable evening into even more affordable.”

Game time is 6:15 p.m.
