WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - Fort Drum public works wants to get a head start on hiring for the winter.
It’s looking to fill 60 positions.
Fort Drum human resource officer Travis Riley says there was strong turnout for a job fair at The WorkPlace in Watertown.
People hired will help with snow and ice removal around the post, along with other winter weather jobs.
Riley says the Direct Hire Authority is allowing Fort Drum to stay on top of staffing.
“Typically we’re hiring well into the January time frame for snow removal operations. So, we’re trying to get out ahead of it and knock a lot of the interview processes and job offers out in one day at a hiring event such as this,” said Riley.
People who accept an offer at the event will be guaranteed six months work and will have a job waiting the following year if they want it.
