CLAYTON, N.Y. (WWNY) - A fishing guide is taking a new angle at helping kids make life choices.
The program is called “Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs.”
Tuesday and Wednesday, a handful of teens are learning about fishing and decision making at the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton.
The workshop is free and the kids will each take home a new fishing pole at the end.
“You can never know enough about fishing; there’s always more to know. Doing stuff outdoors is a lot better than being in trouble,” said Carter Phinney, who participated in the program.
They’ll also help cook what they catch for a traditional Thousand Islands shore dinner.
