Ogdensburg fatal crash

OGDENSBURG, N.Y. (WWNY) - One woman died and two people were seriously injured in a collision early Sunday morning in Ogdensburg.

Julie A. Wright, 47, of Ogdensburg, was killed when her sedan collided with a pickup truck.

Jacob J. Ward, 22, and Nicole M. Wright, 48, of Ogdensburg, were in the pickup truck and were both seriously injured.

Police say Wright and Wright are sisters and lived in the same apartment building on County Route 28.

The collision happened on Route 37, near the approach road to the Ogdensburg-Prescott International Bridge, shortly after 2:30 AM.

Nicole Wright was taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center where she is in fair condition, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Police said in a statement the other patient was taken to Upstate Medical University in Syracuse.

As of about 3:15 Monday afternoon, police described Ward’s condition as critical.

Julie Wright was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

(Editor’s note - Police identified the person killed in the accident as “Julie A. Adams.” Adams was Wright’s married name, but at the time of her death, she had reverted to using her maiden name.)
