Former Fort Drum official wins 2019 Athena Award

Athena Award

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - A former Fort Drum official is this year’s Athena Award winner.

The Greater Watertown-North Country Chamber of Commerce announced Monday that Judy Gentner will be receiving the 28th annual award.

The Athena award recognizes an individual for professional excellence, service to their community and actively assisting women in realizing their full leadership potential.

Gentner served as Deputy to the Garrison Commander, the highest-ranking civilian position on Fort Drum for 14 years and has served on numerous north country committees and boards.

“I feel overwhelmed. It really is overwhelming. To think of all the people that have received the award before and have so much respect for those individuals. It makes me feel very honored and very appreciated,” said Gentner.

She will be presented the award at a dinner on September 4th.
