‘Faery & Earth Festival’ held at Thompson Park
WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - Some whimsical characters were walking around Watertown’s Thompson Park Saturday, for the annual Faery and Earth Festival.
Performers were breathing fire for a crowd and hanging high in the trees. Kids dressed in fairy costumes and were able to get their faces painted. They were the only ones dressed up - some adults showed up in costume for what was billed as a ‘Renaissance-type’ fair.
Organizers said the idea for the festival grew from wedding held in the park several years ago.
“It’s really celebrating the earth and it was based around the first harvest, August 1st, so you know we just keep it going," said Angela Richardson, who coordinated the event.
"We love the earth and we want to help it and heal it. Its very spiritual.”
All donations collected from the day will go toward Feed Our Vets., a charity that helps feed veterans across the state.
