Season of change for Cyclones soccer

Watertown boys' soccer

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - It's a season of change for the Watertown boys' soccer team.

It was the first day of practice Monday at the Alex Duffy Fairgrouds and the Cyclones were happy to be back.

“It’s always one of my favorite days of the year, the first day of practice,” coach Todd Heckman said. “The kids, they’re enthusiastic, so am I. They work hard and it’s really fun to be back.”

The Cyclones lost 17 players from the team that was undefeated in regular season league play last season. The team went on to lose the Frontier League championship game, then lost in the Section 3 quarterfinals.

Heckman says only three starters are returning, Cody Benham, Simon Stratton, and Riley Connell. There are also two transfers from Immaculate Heart, Ethan Uliano and Ben Rathbun.

You can hear more from the coach and from all five players in the video.
