WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - After a rough start to the 2019 season, the Watertown Red and Black finds themselves on a roll as they get set to host first place Schenectady in an Empire Football League contest Saturday night.
After starting out 0-3, the Watertown Red and Black are on a 3 game win streak, one of those via forfeit.
Their latest win came last Saturday night in their first home game of the 2019 Empire Football League season, beating Plattsburgh 23-20.
A change of quarterback, with Joe Brennan starting in place of Jared Hendricks, seemed to spark the Red and Black offense as they put up their highest point total of the season with 23 points.
At 3-3, the Red and Black now find themselves in the thick of the playoff hunt in a very competitive Empire Football League.
In women's college volleyball, J.C.C. blanked Queensborough 3-0.
And the Watertown Wolves hosted a meet the coach party Friday night at Above Reality in Watertown's Stateway Plaza.
Wolves fans got the chance to meet Paul Maclean, who is taking over for Trevor Karasiewicz, who left the Wolves in the off season to coach a junior hockey team in California.
Maclean says he is ready to take over a franchise that has 2 Federal Hockey League titles to its credit in 2015 and 2018.
