OGDENSBURG, N.Y. (WWNY) - People curious about the value of their antiques got their questions answered in Ogdensburg Saturday.
The Fredric Remington Art Museum held its annual ‘appraisal day.'
Item after item was brought to the desk of appraiser Gerald Petro.
People paid the museum five dollars to have Petro appraise their antiques.
He says most aren’t even looking to sell.
“They just want to know what they’re worth. They just need to know," Petro said.
His favorite part of appraisal day?
“It’s just so exciting. You know, it’s fun. You never know what you’re gonna get.”
Proceeds from the day support the art museum. But money isn’t the only important part of the event.
“We’re glad to have this stream of new people coming to the museum for the first time," said Laura Foster, Executive Director of the museum. "More people returning after a long absence.”
“We’re already looking forward to August 2020, when we’ll do it again," she said.
