TOWN OF WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - A longtime Watertown bakery is closing up shop after nearly two decades in business.

Mr. Rick's Bakery on Route 11 in the town of Watertown is closing its doors for good.

After 18 years, family members say owner Paul Alberry is in failing health.

On Thursday, 14 store employees were notified about the closure.

Alberry's son, Paul Alberry Jr. co-owns the bakery and says along with his father's health, it has been tough to run a bake shop in recent years.

"With every grocery store having a bakery in it, along with every corner almost having a Dunkin Donuts or Tim Hortons, it makes it tough. We appreciate your business and I'm glad we were able to do something for you for the last almost two decades," said Paul Alberry Jr.

Alberry says commercial customers are in the process of getting notified. By the end of this weekend, final deliveries will be made.
