MASSENA, N.Y. (WWNY) - Officials with the union that represents workers at Alcoa say they have a tentative four-year contract deal with the aluminum company.
United Steelworkers officials announced the tentative agreement in a message to members Friday morning.
“This agreement makes significant gains while defending what we have now,” union officials said.
The last contract offer from Alcoa was rejected by union officials on August 14. The union was negotiating with the company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania this week.
Details of the agreement will be distributed for members to review before it goes to a ratification vote.
Union members are working on an extension of the last contract, which expired May 15.
More than 300 union members work at Alcoa's plant in Massena.
The USW settled with Arconic, the company that spun off from Alcoa, in early July.
