Head-on weekend crash kills Canton woman
PARISHVILLE, N.Y. (WWNY) - A Canton woman is dead following a two-vehicle head-on crash on County Route 58 near Parishville Saturday.
State police say 43 year old Dawn Sanner was killed shortly before 6 p.m. when an oncoming vehicle driven by 41 year old Lisa Steinfield veered into Sanner’s lane and struck her vehicle head-on.
Sanner was pronounced dead at Canton-Potsdam Hospital. A front-seat passenger in her vehicle, 41 year old Thomas Sanner, was taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, where he was treated for unknown injuries.
Steinfeld, who was alone in her vehicle, was taken to Canton-Potsdam Hospital to be treated for multiple injuries.
St. Lawrence County Coroner June Wood has scheduled an autopsy for Tuesday.
No tickets have been issued and troopers are investigating the cause.
St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies assisted state police at the scene, along with Parishville Rescue Squad and fire departments from Colton, Pierrepont, and Parishville.
