WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - The finishing touches are being put on the ice rink inside the Watertown Municipal Arena.
Parks and Recreation Department staff members spray the surface of the rink to build the ice.
According to Parks and Recreation superintendent Erin Gardner, the process takes just under 200 sprays.
The surface of the ice is then painted by hand.
The rink is home to the Watertown Wolves of the Federal Prospects Hockey League.
Gardner says people in the league take note of the ice's quality.
"We've gotten so many compliments that ours is the best rink in that whole league. Or, the best ice in this whole league. So, we have some people that have worked for us for almost 30 years that have been making ice in this rink. So, they really have some time under their belts on how to do it right," Gardner said.
Gardner says it takes 15 to 20 staff members to complete the rink.
It will be open to the public on September 16.
