LOWVILLE, N.Y. (WWNY) - A sex abuse trial is underway in Lewis County Court.
Michael Daskiewich, who was 57 at the time of his arrest last October, is accused of providing alcohol to two minors and then engaging in sexual contact with a child under age 17.
He faces eight felony and misdemeanor counts of criminal sex act. Those counts include sexual abuse, endangering the welfare of a child and unlawfully dealing with a child. The prosecution called several witnesses Tuesday. The trial resumes Wednesday morning.
Last October, State Police said Daskiewich was taken into custody after agreeing he would meet up with a minor to possibly have further sexual contact after the initial alleged incident in the town of Leyden.
At the time, Daskiewich was sent to the Lewis County Jail with bail set at $5,000 cash. The alleged victim, as well as the District Attorney’s Office, requested an order of protection, but state police said Denmark Town Court declined to issue one.
