Highlights & scores: Watertown out-swims South Jeff

Wednesday morning sports wrap

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - Watertown pulled ahead of South Jefferson in a girls' high school swimming contest Tuesday.

Watertown won the 200 medley relay, the first of the event of the day, with the team of Sarah Kilburn, Mckenzie Way, Jasmine Ferguson, and Emily Alvarado. Watertown also finished second with a South Jefferson team third.

Mallory Peters of Watertown placed first in the 200-yard freestyle with Emma Purvis of South Jefferson second and Alyson McKinney of Watertown third.

In one of the toughest events, the 200-yard individual medley, Julia Urf of Watertown won, just edging out Ava Burns of South Jefferson. Imani Torres of Watertown placed third.

Sarah Kilburn of Watertown won the fastest event, the 50 freestyle. Teammate Emily Alvarado placed second. Laura Zehr of South Jefferson placed third.
