LOWVILLE, N.Y. (WWNY) - A Lewis County jury has found an accused sex abuser guilty.
Michael Daskiewich was found guilty of eight felony and misdemeanor counts of criminal sex act. Those counts include sexual abuse, endangering the welfare of a child and unlawfully dealing with a child.
Daskiewich, who was 57 at the time of his arrest last October, was accused of providing alcohol to two minors and then engaging in sexual contact with a child under age 17.
His trial began Monday. The jury’s deliberations began Wednesday afternoon and lasted less than an hour and a half.
Last October, State Police said Daskiewich was taken into custody after agreeing he would meet up with a minor to possibly have further sexual contact after the initial alleged incident in the town of Leyden.
At the time, Daskiewich was sent to the Lewis County Jail with bail set at $5,000 cash. The alleged victim, as well as the District Attorney’s Office, requested an order of protection, but state police said Denmark Town Court declined to issue one.
Sentencing is set for November 15.
