PAUL SMITH’S, N.Y. (WWNY) - A Massena man died after his vehicle crashed near Paul Smith’s College in Franklin County Tuesday.

State police say 75 year old Alson Novak's vehicle struck guide wires after it went off State Route 30 in the town of Brighton shortly before 7 p.m.

Troopers say witnesses removed Novak from the vehicle and performed CPR until Saranac Lake EMS arrived.

Their efforts were unsuccessful. Novak was pronounced dead at the scene.

The body was taken to Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Police believe Novak may have suffered a medical emergency before the crash.

An autopsy will be performed at a later date.

Paul Smiths-Gabriels Fire Department, Duane Fire Department, and Saranac Lake Emergency Medical Services all assisted at the scene.
