WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - The United Way of Northern New York held its annual Jefferson County food drive Friday.
Dozens of volunteers helped unload and sort food at St. Anthony's Church in Watertown.
The nonperishable food items will be be distributed to the county's 19 food pantries.
United Way executive director Jamie Cox says they hope to collect more than 25,000 canned goods this year.
"We all learn about social responsibility and this is social responsibility in action," he said. "This food is going to go to some families who really, really need it."
