wwny Thursday: old school gets new life

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - The former elementary and intermediate school on South Massey Street in Watertown will soon have a new tenant.

ARC Jefferson-St. Lawrence will be leasing the former St. Patrick’s and IHC Intermediate School (and before that, the South Massey Street elementary school) at the beginning of 2020.

The Bright Beginnings and pre-school programs will move into the school first, followed by the adult day program for people with disabilities.

The reason? ARC Jefferson-St. Lawrence plans to renovate its Gaffney Drive facilities.

“We’re fortunate to find out about St. Patrick’s availability. It’s going to be an ideal place for us to still be able to conduct programming while under construction,” said Michelle Carpenter, JRC Foundation Director.

The renovations will take two years to complete. The JRC Foundation is raising money for the renovations.
