CAPE VINCENT, N.Y. (WWNY) - People in Cape Vincent grabbed their mugs and toasted to German heritage for this year’s Oktoberfest.
On Saturday, people enjoyed live German music, beer was on tap, and the Cape Vincent Fire Department sold food in return for donations.
In its 12th year, Oktoberfest committee member Michael Chavoustie says the event brings life to the village after Labor Day.
“A lot of people think that once Labor Day hits that the town’s all shut up around here along the river. And we decided to do an event that could still take advantage of the nice weather and all the people that still are in the area,” said Chavoustie.
Chavoustie says over 1,000 people attended last year’s Oktoberfest and that the event seems to grow every year.
