WEST TURIN, N.Y. (WWNY) - A Boonville man was flown to a Syracuse hospital for treatment Saturday, after being injured in a UTV crash.

Lewis County Sheriff’s deputies said Matthew Pfendler, 27, lost control of his UTV on Duppert Road in the Town of West Turin Saturday evening. Both Pfendler and a passenger were thrown from the UTV, deputies said.

Pfendler was flown to Upstate University Hospital “due to injuries sustained in the crash,” deputies said, who also charged Pfendler with driving while intoxicated and operating his vehicle at an imprudent speed.

“Any additional applicable DWI charges against Pfendler are currently pending return of toxicology results from the NYSP (New York State Police) Forensic Investigation Unit,” deputies said in a press release.
