GOUVERNEUR, N.Y. (WWNY) - Saturday was a busy afternoon in Section 10 football with 3 games on the schedule.
We begin in Gouverneur where the Wildcats looked to remain undefeated as they hosted the Larries of St. Lawrence Central. It was all Wildcats in this one, Kyle Savage takes it in from 8 yards out for Gouverneur.
Caleb Farr adds a 2 point conversion on the quarterback keeper. Then it was Farr with a 21 yard touchdown pass to Cayden Stowell. Score: 34-0 Wildcats.
Then it was Savage outside finding the endzone for a 2 point conversion. Wildcats roll to a 50-0 win.
Up the road in Canton, the Golden Bears hosted the O.F.A. Blue Devils. Jackson Jones pitched to Drew Costello for a 4 yard touchdown run. Hunter Vlauvelt scores Canton's only points of the game on a 2 yard push to paydirt. O.F.A. beats Canton 51-8.
In Section 3 football from New York Mills, the South Lewis Falcons opened their 8 man season against New York Mills. It was all Falcons as quarterback Cody Spann called his own number and takes it to the house for a touchdown.
Then it was Spann with a quick hit to Branton Carpenter who breaks a tackle and finds paydirt for the Falcons. It was Spann once again taking matters into his own hands with a couple of nice stiff arms on his way to the endzone. South Lewis wins 68-20.
On the soccer field, the I.H.C. Lady Cavaliers held their annual pink out game Saturday morning, hosting the South Jeff Lady Spartans.
In the1st half, I.H.C. gets on the board first when Emily Bombard took the ball the Kate O'Neil and dents the back of the net, putting the Lady Cavaliers on top 1-0. South Jeff defeats I.H.C. 5-1.
On the boys side, a non-league matchup in Dexter as the General Brown Lions looked to remain undefeated as they hosted Clinton. In the1st half, the Lions were down 1-0 when Lucas Marillo Hernandez worked some hard feeds to Dave Martin who tickles the twine, tying the game at 1. Clinton beats General Brown 6-1.
In men’s college soccer action from Jefferson Community College, the Cannoneers hosted Fulton Montgomery. In the1st half, the Cannoneers were already up 1-0 when Jeff Lloyd found the mark, increasing the J.C.C. lead to 2-0. Lowville graduate Andrew McLean would record the shutout in net for the Cannoneers. J.C.C. wins 5-0.
