Man breaks neck in car-buggy accident

LISBON, N.Y. (WWNY) - An accident between a car and an Amish buggy in the town of Lisbon Thursday morning left a man with a broken neck, according to state police.

Troopers said a buggy, operated by 39 year old Abe Gingreich of Lisbon, was rear-ended by a car driven by 33 year old Amy Kelso of Ogdensburg.

It happened before 9 a.m. on State Route 68 near Basswood Ridge Road in the town of Lisbon. Both vehicles were eastbound.

Police said Gingreich was taken to Canton-Potsdam Hospital for treatment of a broken neck. His injury was described as non life-threatening.

Kelso was ticketed for following too closely.
