CANTON, N.Y. (WWNY) - On Friday night, the Canton Golden Bears girls’ swim team reached a milestone that very few teams ever get close to.
The Lady Golden Bears beat St. Lawrence Central 55-39 for their 100th straight meet win.
The last time the Lady Bears lost was back in 2011, when they finished 2nd in the Section 10 Championship.
An 8 season win streak a pretty impressive feat. It's something Coach Meg McGovern says it is a testament to the hard work and dedication each group of Canton swimmers has had throughout the streak.
“It’s a journey we started a long time ago. It’s been 8 years coming, just to hit 50 was an amazing feat for us. And we started toying with the idea of 100, as the years went by so the kids have come into the program, have worked really hard and it’s taken 8 years of teams to make this happen.” said McGovern.
