American Legion visit

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - New York State American Legion officers were visiting Jefferson County.

Legion officers visited Fort Drum Monday afternoon and then attended a dinner at the Ramada Inn.

Members of nine Jefferson County American Legion posts welcomed the officials with their banners.

State American Legion Commander Michael McDermott says he was surprised by the gesture.

"When you come around that corner and see all those flags and all those people with their caps on and it brings your heart up and it makes you feel so proud and proud of Jefferson County for what they did today," he said. "It's very encouraging."

Legion officers visit Jefferson County every year.
