TOWN OF THERESA, N.Y. (WWNY) - Fire destroyed an abandoned home in the Town of Theresa Wednesday night.

Fire crews were called to 38395 Creek Rd. just before 7:00 p.m.

The home was engulfed in flames and later collapsed. No one was injured.

Justin Ernst tells 7News he had recently purchased the property. Ernst says the home had been abandoned for 20 years, and he was hoping to salvage some of its hard wood flooring.

Ernst says he was at the property getting his lawnmower, when he saw smoke and called for help.

Over the last two weeks, two other abandoned buildings have been destroyed by fire in Jefferson County. An abandoned Town of Orleans home was leveled on September 23rd, and last week, crews responded to a fire at an old motel in the Town of Hounsfield, a fire police say may have been intentionally set.

Fire investigators were on scene to determine what started this latest blaze.
