WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - Cathy Moore of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County appeared on 7 News at Noon on Friday to talk about the positive and negative impacts of social media and to invite viewers to the organization's annual dinner.

The dinner will be held October 30 at 6 p.m. at the Elk’s Lodge, 728 Bradley Street in Watertown.
There will be two guest speakers who will discuss "The Digital Life of Teens."
One is Amanda Purington, the Director of Evaluation and Research for ACT of Youth at the Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research at Cornell University. Purington is developing an educational social media simulation to promote healthy behaviors online and prevent youth risk-behaviors.
The other speaker is Dr. Yoon Hyung Choi, who works at the Social Media Lab. Her work also focuses on helping young people use social media in productive ways.
The speakers will discuss how young people are connecting and what they do online. They will reveal how digital media affects adolescent development and well being.
