WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - Police have identified the man whose body was recovered from the Black River in Watertown Wednesday afternoon.

Police say it was 52 year old Scott Phillips whose body was found by employees of Brookfield Renewable on Mill Street.

His last known address is 615 Academy Street in Watertown.

Jefferson County Medical Examiner Dr. Samuel Livingstone conducted an autopsy Thursday and ruled the death was due to drowning.

Police are asking for help in their investigation. They ask anyone who saw Phillips Tuesday evening or early Wednesday to contact them at 315-782-2233.
