WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - It was a beautiful day for all things autumn at Watertown's Thompson Park.
The city’s Parks and Recreation department held its 4th annual Harvest Festival. The park hosted all kinds of fall activities for families to enjoy, like face painting, pumpkin decorating, scarecrow dressing, and more.
Parks and Rec Superintendent Erin Gardner says the event got its start back when the new Watertown Municipal Arena was being constructed.
“We had a little bit of extra time on our hands because we weren’t running the arena,” Gardner said. “So, we decided to start this Harvest Festival. And it was so popular that we’ve kept it going every year. The weather’s amazing. So, we couldn’t have asked for a better day.”
Gardner estimates more than a thousand people came out to the event.
