WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - If you are a fan of mixed martial arts, you'll want to be at the Jefferson Community College
athletic center on Saturday.
"Victory Cage Fighting Championships 31 Armageddon is coming to town, stacked card right now, we have 17 separate bouts, seven world titles on the line, some amazing fighters coming in from all over the East Coast, Canada," organizer John Gibbons said. "I have a gentleman coming in from Mexico, we've got some great fights, we've got a guy who's been fighting in Thailand for the last two years -- it's going to be an amazing night of full-contact mixed martial arts."
Gibbons always likes to help out a local charity with some of the proceeds from the night.
“Every time we come to town we try to hook up with a good, worthy cause, this time around we are doing the Victims Assistance Center of Jefferson County -- great cause and it’s really close to our heart,” he said. “A 115-pound female champ actually used one of the assistance centers, she was in an abusive relationship -- it’s an organization close to our heart because they do good work and we have a champion who turned her life around and became one of the toughest women I’ve ever known in the 12 years I’ve known her.”
If you want to go to the event, there are plenty of places to get tickets.
“We’ve got tickets all over town, we’ve got tickets at Big Apple Music, you can get them on Mullin Street at Stephens Media Group, you can get them at Cam’s Pizzeria, 342, Behring Ju-Jitsu, and we always have plenty of tickets at the door the night of the event,” Gibbons said. “We keep the prices insanely low because we like packing the place, to bring in the best fighters, and give the folks the best show possible.”
