WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - An old playground on Academy Street in Watertown has been torn down to make way for an upgrade.

Officials from the city's Parks and Recreation Department say construction of the new playground should start Friday.

The city received $95,000 for the project from the Community Development Block Grant project.

The aim of the federal grant is to benefit low and moderate income areas.

Officials say the playground should be ready in a week or two if weather permits.
