WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - The Jefferson Community College men's soccer team has a regional playoff game scheduled for Tuesday at South Jefferson.
The Cannoneer men would like nothing better than to win the game and then face Herkimer Community College, the number-one seed in the region.
The Cannoneers host North Country Community College with the game set for 5 p.m.
The Cannoneers currently stand at 8-7 and it's the first time in recent memory they have hosted a regional playoff game.
Jefferson is facing a North Country team they beat 4-0 early in the season.
"I definitely expect to see a different team as we played them earlier in the season," coach Joe Vaadi said. "I think we're a much better side also at this stage of the year."
“I think they’re going to be a lot more tough coming out, a lot more hungry, obviously we are both playing for a spot to play against number-one Herkimer,” player Trenton Sullivan said. “The beginning of the year, everyone improves -- that game they could have had an off game, anything can happen -- we’re just going to go out there and play our hardest and play the best we can and hope for a win.”
“We met them at the beginning of the season -- as teams do, they progress, they get better as the season goes on,” Sebastian Mastin said, “so we expect to have a very good game against them.”
