CALCIUM, N.Y. (WWNY) - Two people were injured early Saturday morning in a shooting incident at Eagle Ridge Village Apartments off Route 342, near Calcium.

Jefferson County Sheriffs, New York State police and Watertown city police were on scene Saturday on Redtail Lane, at the rear of the complex.

Police were looking for at least one suspect Saturday.

One of the two men injured suffered a gunshot wound from a hand gun; it wasn’t immediately clear if the other man was injured by a gunshot or in some other way. Both men were described as young adults by Detective Ben Timerman, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office. At least one of them is affiliated with the military.

One of the men was taken for treatment at Samaritan Medical Center, though neither man’s injuries were said to be life-threatening.

The incident took place outdoors, and Saturday morning there were numerous evidence markers in and around the roadway on Redtail Lane.

A neighbor said police arrived at 12;40 AM. The sheriff’s office spokesman said deputies were already en route when the shooting occurred because of numerous calls to 9-1-1 of a disturbance in the area, so there was an “extremely prompt response” to the shooting, Timerman said.

One person who lives in the townhouse complex reported hearing three gunshots.
