HENDERSON, N.Y. (WWNY) - A group of Henderson residents will be looking to the town board Wednesday night for support after flooding in Lake Ontario damaged their properties.
It's called the Concerned Citizens of Henderson Support Group.
One of the issues members will bring to the board is how much they're paying in property taxes.
Rose Mary Felio is a member.
She says the amount she's paying in taxes hasn't changed, nor has her assessment even though flooding has caused her to lose property and has damaged her home.
Felio says above all else, the group's purpose is to make sure the community is heard.
“Washington, Albany, they’ve got to hear us. We feel all alone in this and, I mean, month after month. It took me 13 months to get help before and I struggled and fought very hard for that and, I don’t want to do that again,” said Felio.
Felio says the group also wants a member of the town board to attend their community meetings.
The first one will be held November 20 at the Henderson Fire Hall.
