OGDENSBURG, N.Y. (WWNY) - A 59 year old Ogdensburg woman faces animal cruelty charges.

The St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Office said Sandra Maimone moved from her home at 4232 County Route 17 in the town of DeKalb last spring after the house went into foreclosure.

Officials said she was unable to take her pets to her new apartment at 403 Hasbrouck Street in Ogdensburg and left the animals behind.

Maimone is accused of failing to feed the animals and provide a clean living area for them.

The animals, which include five cats and one rabbit, were surrendered to animal control and will be turned over to the St. Lawrence Valley SPCA.

Maimone, who was charged with animal cruelty, was issued a ticket to appear in DeKalb Town Court at a later date.
