MASSENA, N.Y. (WWNY) - Curran Renewable Energy in Massena hopes to have its production facility up and running by this weekend following Wednesday’s fire.

It’s believed the afternoon fire started in the airlock of one of the baghouses, said owner Patrick Curran.

A crane will pull the baghouse apart so repairs can be done, Curran said.

In the meantime, Curran Renewable Energy’s nearly 100 employees will remain at work, Curran said.

The production facility has been running seven days a week since April to fill orders.

The business makes wood pellets.

The fire broke out at around 2 p.m. Wednesday. Two workers were treated by members of the Massena Rescue Squad after suffering from smoke inhalation.

The employees and did not have to go the hospital, officials said.
