Dexter’s new $3M bridge now open to public
DEXTER, N.Y. (WWNY) - People are able to get to Dexter’s Fish Island Park for the first time in three years.
The old bridge that led to island had to be shut down after it was found to be unsafe.
Now, a new $3 million bridge has officially opened allowing traffic to get to the island
The park is used for events, fishing, and to launch boats and kayaks.
Dexter Mayor James Eves says that when the weather warms up the island will be a busy place.
"People will plan their summers and fall vacations to come up here and use the island. There's people up there from sun up to sun down," he said.
Village residents and businesses owners we spoke to say they too are glad the bridge has opened.
