Wednesday morning sports wrap

POTSDAM, N.Y. (WWNY) - Potsdam was a hotbed of local sports Tuesday, highlighted by women's college basketball and women's college hockey.

Clarkson University's Emma Buonanno drove to the top of the lane to bury the shot for the first points in a women's basketball contest against SUNY Potsdam.

Caroline LaFountain passed to Devyn Elliott, who answered with a bucket, tying the game at 2-2.

Tsai Lewis dished to Jakia Howard for the bucket, putting the Bears ahead 9-8.

Lewis, off the steal, raced uncontested for the layup: 21-20 Bears.

Gouverneur product Elaina Porter got the put-back, giving the Golden Knights a 30-24 lead.

Isabelle Sullivan buried an 18-footer. Clarkson hang on to beat SUNY Potsdam 78-70.

In women's hockey, SUNY Potsdam pulled the puck from the boards in the first period against St. Michael's. Lucy Condon roofed her shot from the slot: 3-0 Potsdam.

Kaylee Merrill glided in front of the net during the second period and lifted her third goal of the season: 4-0 Bears.

Keira Thacker fired a sharp-angle shot into the opposite side of the net: 5-0.

Fifty seconds later, Krista Ferrari found the mesh to put St. Mike's on the board: 5-1.

Natalie Wasielewski put the puck on the net and Miranda Kolb tucked home the rebound.

Potsdam went on to beat St. Michael's 8-3.
