FORT DRUM, N.Y. (WWNY) - Thanksgiving on Fort Drum was a chance to serve a holiday meal to soldiers, but it was also a competition.
The 1st, 2nd, Combat Aviation, and Sustainment brigades were all vying for the Commander’s Cup, by decorating their dining facilities. The best theme brought home the gold.
This year’s win went to the 2nd brigade combat team, which went for a Marvel motif, complete with costumes and Spider Man, Hulk, and Captain America decorations.
In all, Fort Drum served more than two thousand pounds of turkey, plated 2,400 scoops of sweet potatoes, and dished out 2,600 slices of pie.
