WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - Hundreds of people hit the ground running for a Watertown Thanksgiving Day tradition Thursday morning.
Runners and walkers took part in this year's annual Watertown YMCA Turkey Run.
Some completed a 5K while others took a 2.2-mile route.
The YMCA's Steve Rowell says the race has been happening for more than 30 years
"This a huge tradition," he said. "It's a good way to get people out and moving in a good way before we all sit down for that big Thanksgiving meal."
"We decided let's get out here and carry our tradition on and just trot away so we can eat that wonderful Thanksgiving dinner this afternoon," Amy Orse said.
Prizes were given out to the fastest runners and the biggest team.
