WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - Many people stopped to take a break in Watertown as they were making their way to their Thanksgiving Day destinations.
Speedway gas station on Arsenal Street was busy Wednesday afternoon with people filling up their tanks.
Some families also stopped to stretch their and their dogs' legs.
Many said that travel was smooth.
"No problems at all, actually," said Brenda James, who's heading to Lisbon from Rochester. "It's been a couple years since I've been home for the holiday, so I'm really excited.
"This is our fourth year in a row we've gone to Lake Placid for Thanksgiving," said Matt Vahue, who was traveling with his family from Fairport, N.Y. "We celebrate it at Mirror Lake Inn."
According to AAA, more than 55 million travelers were planning a trip of 50 miles or more from home for the holiday.
